Destruction as art

In the more than three decades that have passed in my artist life, I’ve seen many other visual artists who claim to be champions of destruction as an expression of art. But guess what, as I see it as an eye, I’ve seen that all of them have created pieces that have to do more with creating some kind of order out of chaos, pretending they are using chaos as a form of expression.

Well, I’m sorry for the detractors in advance; I’ve seen a lot of attempts at so-called art trying to be disruptive, and they're not, because unconsciously they give something with structure, finally. I won’t mention here the long list of all those fellas, out of respect.

It’s possible you won’t believe it, but even chaos has order. And here I come again to someone who really understands that impermanence is the true nature of everything that dances in the universe, and he is its herald. Once again, Banksy. I don’t really know how many living visual artists are in the same position, but I’m one of them, not that I’ll be recognized or even considered an artist; I do not feel myself as one. But whatever I’ve created, I feel compelled to destroy my five HDs and burn all the plastic shit I’ve done. I’m still lingering in that decision.

Whatever, this text is not about me, but about the impermanence of art as a sign and statement of the insubstantiality of life itself.

I share the same Banksy’s vision long before he was famous, and I was ojolo —even when I know I’m nobody anywhere, no matter the 15 years I’ve been busting my ass at the line. But who cares.

The important thing here is that destruction of art is art itself. Any doubt about it?
