The story behind the series
contrapuntos visuales
Visual Counterpoints is a series of paintings that explore the emotional tension between geometric order and intuitive disruption. Each composition is constructed through layered fields of color—often vibrant reds, muted grays, and dense blacks—interrupted by rigid shapes, vertical blocks, and sudden absences.
These elements create a spatial rhythm that evokes architecture, sound, and psychological weight. Rather than depicting physical spaces, the series maps internal structures: states of silence, pressure, fragmentation, and presence. The recurring appearance of symbolic “eyes” embedded in the geometry introduces a subtle witness—an unsettling consciousness within the built form.
These works reference Latin American concrete art, yet twist the legacy with emotional subversion and personal codes. A gaze trapped in structure. Silence bending into weight. These works breathe between geometry and ghost.
