The story behind the series
animalojos
Animalojos is a series of symbolic portraits where human identity dissolves into animal presence. Faces are merged, overtaken, or interrupted by beasts that do not represent decoration or fantasy, but instinct, memory, and raw psychological force. Each animalojo functions as an archetype: a mirror of inner drives, ancestral echoes, and untamed emotional states.
Rooted in expressionist figuration and ritual imagery, the series explores the blurred boundary between the human and the animal. These are not transformations of escape, but of confrontation. The animal does not disguise the subject — it reveals what language cannot hold: hunger, fear, vigilance, desire, survival.
Through aggressive textures, sacred color palettes, and visceral compositions, animalojos proposes a return to the primal gaze. A territory where identity fractures and instinct takes control. The viewer is not invited to observe calmly, but to be recognized, challenged, and silently measured by the eyes that stare back.
